Why New York Pride parade has barred uniformed police officers

Organisers of the annual Pride parade in New York City decided to exclude officers from walking the route in a bid to create a “safer space” for all participants.

The BBC spoke with a gay officer who said she was “heartbroken” by the decision.

Produced by Tom Brook and Tristan Daley.
